Legal Expo 2009

Introduce yourself to representatives from suppliers that tailor their products and services to the legal community. Enjoy the spectacular array of valuable products, services, and equipment that can help you run your practice more efficiently and effectively. Mid-afternoon refreshment breaks are scheduled in the exposition area. Be sure to enter your business card for daily drawings offered by the exhibiting companies. Exhibits are open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. including a welcoming reception from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Honored 50-year members and their guests are invited to a reception prior to the Members’ Recognition Luncheon.

Members' Recognition Luncheon

Attorneys who were admitted to practice in 1959 will be recognized for their half century as members of the State Bar. Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson will address the honored 50-year members at the luncheon.

President Diane S. Diel will present the President’s Award to recognize people who have served with distinction during her term. In addition, the Leonard Loeb Senior Lawyers Division Award, the Nonresident Lawyers Division Founders Award, Bench/Bar Committee's Judge of the Year and Lifetime Jurist Awards will be presented.

Come and celebrate with your colleagues. Admission is $35 per person and is not included in any convention packages. Only a small number of tickets will be available for sale at the luncheon.

Opening Reception in Exhibit Hall

Presidential Swearing-In Ceremony

President-elect Douglas W. Kammer of Portage will be sworn in as the 54th president of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson will address the guests and administer the oath of office. President Diane S. Diel will reflect on her year as State Bar president, and Kammer will address issues affecting the State Bar and the legal profession in the coming year. Admission to this ceremony is included in your convention registration.

Immediately following the swearing-in ceremony, you are invited to attend the President’s Swearing-In Reception honoring Douglas W. Kammer. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and soda. Admission to this reception is included in your convention registration.

Goldberg Award Reception

The Charles L. Goldberg Distinguished Service Award is presented to a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin who has a long-standing record of service both to the legal profession and to the public. The award, presented by the Wisconsin Law Foundation, is named after the former State Bar of Wisconsin president who was a leader in launching free legal services to the poor. All are invited to this free event.

For the 29th consecutive convention, the Law Office Management Section will be hosting a breakfast symposium for those who want to talk about the business of lawyering. Open to all lawyers and legal staff, this breakfast is the perfect opportunity to share your success stories and your challenges in managing a law practice – including technology needs, staffing, client communication, time management, handling trust accounts, and more. Admission is $10 per person and is not included in any of the convention packages. Only a small number of tickets will be available for sale at the breakfast.
