Program Chair Survival Guide

The Program Chair Survival Guide includes a variety of information that will be important for you as you prepare your program for the annual convention.

CLE program tracks

We have scheduled the CLE programs in "tracks." The "track" concept is an attempt to allow attendees to attend portions of various programs throughout the day. Please see the 2009 Convention Schedule (available September 5, 2008) for the day and time of your program and the current list of all programs.

Wednesday and Thursday afternoon tracks:
Track One 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.
Track Two 1:50 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
Break 2:40 p.m. to 2:55 p.m.
Track Three 2:55 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Track Four 3:45 p.m. to 4:35 p.m.
Friday morning tracks:
Track One 10:25 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Track Two 11:15 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.

Spotlight Programs

One Spotlight Program will be offered this year.

Thursday, May 7, 2009              8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

CLE program schedule

We will publish a detailed schedule for each CLE program in convention promotional pieces. It is helpful to have accurate information about your CLE program in the promotional pieces, since it is the most complete mailing regarding the convention. Please provide a detailed program schedule complete with times, speakers and topics to Reggie Driscoll.  Please note if you would like us to submit for EPR credits for any portion of your program.  See the Ethics tab for more information.

The deadline for submitting your speakers and topics is NOVEMBER 7, 2008.

Publicity of your program

We highlight some CLE programs in our convention promotional pieces. The programs that we tend to highlight are nationally known speakers, or topics of special interest. If you feel that you have such a speaker or program, please forward information on the program, as well as a photograph and bio of any non-member speaker or speakers, by December 12, 2008 to Reggie Driscoll.

Outlines

Outlines from the speakers are due March 20, 2009. Any outlines submitted after the MARCH 20th deadline will NOT be included in the convention materials.

All outlines MUST be submitted in electronic form via email to Reggie Driscoll. In order to have the outlines searchable on the CDs, we must receive the outlines in Word, Excel®, or PowerPoint® format.  Please do not submit your materials as PDF files.

The cost of printing any outlines not submitted in time for publishing will be charged back to the section, committee or division sponsoring the CLE program.

Please keep in mind that the BOARD OF BAR EXAMINERS will not approve programs for credit unless written materials are provided.

Ethics credit approval

Provided below is information on Ethics topics by the Board of Bar Examiners regarding EPR credits. The list includes topics that are generally approved, as well as a listing of topics that are not approved for ethics credits. If any portion of your program covers ethics and is at least 50 minutes long, please let Reggie Driscoll know when submitting your speakers and topics. We will complete the required application and forward it to the Board of Bar Examiners for their approval. Unlike CLE credits, we must apply for ethics credits PRIOR TO THE CONVENTION.
